A Lesson Planning Application
The Project
This project took place over a weekend design jam, in which we had 3 days to design an application that would be helpful to any chosen group of people.
My Position
On a small three person team, I was the project manager and primary user researcher. I also helped with some of the high res mock ups made in Figma.

The User Research
Researching into the education field, I discovered that a lot of people who've recently started teaching often find these two problems difficult to deal with when they first start off teaching.
Breaking Down The Problem
The team then decided to focus on trying to make lesson planning for new teacher easier, we used a lean UX canvas to help us breakdown problems that we could synthesis solutions to by creating an organization application.
Creating A Persona
Because of time constraints we decided to design a minimum viable product for one user base, which was new teachers entering the field. We created the persona of Mike Wazowski and used him. To establish our mindsets when creating the app.
Analyzing Competition
We then looked at other organizational applications that are used by people in the education field. We found that a lot of teacher will plan their lesson's directly into things like blackboard and canvas, or use calendar application to help them organize their lesson plans. We found the biggest issue with these applications was that they don't do well at communicating the lesson plans of other faculty which can lead to teachers swamping students with work at certain times. We aimed to make an application that can be a catalyst for better communication in the academic space.
Developing A User Journey
When developing the user journey we considered that sometimes teachers can teach at multiple schools so we opened up the options for multiple schools to choose from when creating the user's lesson plans. We then tried to consider the options a user would need when developing lesson plans.
Low Fidelity Mock Up
In our low fidelity mock ups we outlined how we wanted the layout of our application to work.
High Fidelity Mock Up
In our high fidelity mock ups ended up changing a lot from our conceptualized low fidelity mock ups. All of us ended up working on the high fidelity mock ups and in this project I designed the login screen, and implemented design conventions into menu system of the application.
